What to expect
This one-day practical welding course will introduce you to the basics of welding metal using one of the most common and accessible welding processes — MIG (Metal Inert Gas) welding.
Over the day, you'll spend plenty of time actually welding, with demonstrations and guidance to help you develop your technique.
What you’ll learn?
During the day, you'll learn how to set up and use a MIG welder and develop the basic techniques needed to start welding confidently. You'll practise welding in both horizontal and vertical positions, while learning how to adjust the machine and troubleshoot common setup problems.
You'll also learn how to prepare metal properly before welding, use angle grinders safely to clean and finish your work, and understand how your approach changes when welding different sizes and thicknesses of mild steel.
Throughout the day, you'll put these skills into practice through a series of hands-on exercises before bringing everything together to create your own small metal project.
By the end of the workshop, you'll have a good understanding of how to use a MIG welder and the basic fabrication steps involved in building metal objects and carrying out repairs.

Unfortunately, Alma Yard doesn’t have on site parking at the moment and the parking restrictions don’t allow you to park outside. There is pay and display parking at the Lockyers Quay or Barbican Harbour Car Park.
